A Northeast native, Kerry first left Vermont to pursue natural health care
10 years ago in order to complete her graduate degree at the renowned natural
medicine university, Bastyr
University in Seattle, WA.
During her four-year post graduate work in Acupuncture, Kerry achieved her massage therapy license, and began to utilize acupressure, shiatsu, and deep tissue massage for relaxation at the Oriental Medical Clinic in Seattle. She completed advanced training with Dr. Nancy Soliven DC, MD, in craniosacral therapy which allowed her to focus on treatments of chronic headaches, migraines, rhinitis and sinusitis. After completing of a Masters of Science degree in Acupuncture, Kerry achieved state licensure for acupuncture in WA and VT as well as national accreditation by the professional organization, National Council and Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM). Kerry remained in Seattle after graduation and began a successful private practice, On Point Acupuncture, where she treated general pain conditions in an integrated healthcare setting, and coupled her time with the implementation of acupuncture into a community clinic, Alternate Current, a free clinic for chronic pain patients.
Acupuncture is helpful for treating addictions, and Kerry pursued additional work in this area after being awarded a grant to study at Lincoln Hospital’s Rehabilitation Center, in the Bronx, NY. This rotation provided Kerry with additional certification as an Acupuncture Detoxification Specialist, in accordance with the National Acupuncture Detoxification Association (NADA). She now utilizes these techniques to decrease cravings for nicotine, drugs and alcohol, as well as cravings for sugars and carbohydrates for weight management.
Kerry’s professional career has allowed her to pursue her passion for acupuncture with her love for travel. In 2004, Kerry completed internships in England utilizing acupuncture in the NHS Trust Plymouth Hospital with Sarah Budd RN, MBAcC, for pain management during labor and delivery and treating fertility in specialty adjunct clinics in London. Kerry joined Celebrity Cruise Lines later in 2004 as a practicing acupuncturist, where she provided seminars to the cruising public about Acupuncture, Feng Shui, nutrition, and Chinese herbs, as well as administered treatments for weight management, pain relief, stress reduction, and the popular Acupuncture Facial Rejuvenation.
Kerry’s passion for spreading acupuncture to a world wide audience propelled her into corporate management of the Acupuncture department for over 40 cruise ships. Her supervision and training of acupuncturists for one of the world’s leading international spa corporations, Steiner Leisure, allowed Acupuncture to be a permanent fixture on board ships world wide.
Kerry now practices in Waterbury, Vermont and enjoys volunteering as the secretary of the board of the Vermont Association for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. She welcomes new patients, and enjoys spending time explaining the benefits of Oriental Medicine to new clients.
